The Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation is dedicated to locating, acquiring and developing sites for new schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District. Since 1998, the Facilities Foundation has continued to make great progress toward fulfilling its mission to assist the Hart District in providing school facilities through land acquisition and infrastructure development.
The Facilities Foundation was created to serve, born out of necessity at the time when the community's schools were in crisis with severe overcrowding. In August 2004, the Facilities Foundation celebrated the opening of Golden Valley High School, which helped reduce overcrowding in other local high schools. A few years earlier and in partnership with the City of Santa Clarita, a key portion of the cross-valley connector was built at a substantial cost savings to taxpayers. The acquisition of two prospective school site properties in Canyon Country and the sale of land adjacent to Golden Valley highlight activities in the current year.
Today the community enjoys the benefit of financial contributions made to the City of Santa Clarita Aquatic Center and Sierra Vista Junior High Boys and Girls Club facility, adding to the instructioonal and extracurricular programs for Hart District students.
The Facilities Foundation remains financially strong, secure and prepared to pursue its goal of assisting to provide the best possible facilities for students in the Hart District at the lowest possible cost and with the highest level of financial assistance from the state. Finances are a matter of public record and subject to an annual independent and certified audit. The results are published annually in the Annual Report.
